I’ve been working on some new alphabet and beginning sounds resources, and these are ones I’m genuinely SO excited to use in my own Pre-K classroom this year!

First up—Make Your Own Letter Tubs! I love the idea of letter tubs for hands-on alphabet learning, but buying a full set can be expensive...and storing 26 separate tubs takes up a LOT of precious classroom space. So I made my own version using just ONE reusable deli tub! In the video, I’ll show you how I put it together, how I change it for each letter, what I put inside, and how I use it as part of my Letter of the Week routine.

And while I was getting everything ready, I rediscovered a set of Letter Sound Mats I had made—and immediately thought, “WHY am I not using these?!” 😂 Each mat features a letter along with beginning sounds pictures, and they’re going straight into my Letter of the Week routine this year.

Both of those resources are now available in the Teach Pre-K Dollar Store for just $1 each.

I’ve also been expanding my Letter & Sound Cards with lots of new beginning sounds picture cards. Instead of having to buy one giant alphabet resource, they’re grouped by letter in the Dollar Store, so you can pick the letters you need, skip the ones you don’t, and build your own alphabet resources a little at a time.

These are simple, hands-on alphabet activities I can actually use in my classroom to help children connect letters, beginning sounds, vocabulary, and real objects—without adding a ton of complicated prep or taking over my classroom storage!

If you teach Preschool, Pre-K, TK, or Kindergarten and you’re working on letter recognition, letter sounds, phonemic awareness, or Letter of the Week activities, I hope this gives you a few new ideas to try with your own learners.

🛒 Find the alphabet resources shown in this video in the Teach Pre-K Dollar Store:
https://tpkdollarstore.com/collections/1-alphabet-activities-resources?page=1

Everything is just $1, so you can pick and choose exactly what works for your classroom.

🌟 Being an early childhood educator is no small feat! Every day, you shape young minds, nurture creativity, and lay the foundation for lifelong learning. It’s challenging, exhausting, and sometimes thankless work, but your impact is immeasurable. Take a moment to celebrate the incredible work you do! Share your proudest teaching moment in the comments and let’s uplift each other in this rewarding journey! 💪
Well...we survived the first day of pre-k. 😂

The good news? The kids were GREAT.

Their teacher? A little questionable.

It was only a half day, but apparently that was plenty of time for me to forget my own routine, forget about a schedule change, repeatedly forget what time pickup was, and generally feel like I had never taught preschool before in my life.

In my defense, we had a completely different pickup time than I’ve ever had before—but still. 😂

This was one of those first days when nothing was actually wrong. The children did beautifully, we had a good day, and everyone went home happy. I was just completely off my game.

After weeks of classroom setup, meetings, planning, preparing, and getting ready for this new school year, I think my brain finally said, “That’s enough.”

I came home and took a 2½-hour nap.

And tomorrow we do it again—except this time it’s our first FULL day.

Am I going to make it this year? 😂

Come along for the real-life beginning of another year in my Preschool and Pre-K classroom—the good days, the exhausting days, the things that work, and apparently the days when I forget what time school ends.

The classroom is ready, the centers are set up, and it’s almost time for the FIRST DAY OF PRE-K! 🎉 Come take a final tour of my Pre-K classroom as I get everything ready for my students and show you the simple mini centers and hands-on activities I’ll be using during our first week together.

I’m sharing what I have ready for Day 1-5, how I’m keeping our first preschool centers simple and manageable, and some of the math, literacy, and fine motor activities we’ll be using throughout the week. At the beginning of the year, I want my students learning our classroom routines, exploring materials, building independence, and getting comfortable in their new classroom—so our centers are intentionally simple, playful, and developmentally appropriate.

And if you see an activity you’d like to use in YOUR classroom, I’ve made it easy to find them! The centers featured in this video are available in my Teach Pre-K Dollar Store for just $1 each, and I’ve linked them below.

Whether you teach Preschool, Pre-K, TK, or Kindergarten, I hope this classroom tour gives you some practical ideas for creating a welcoming first week, introducing classroom centers, and starting the school year without making things more complicated than they need to be.

Remember, a perfect classroom isn’t about the décor or the latest trends—it’s about creating a space that inspires learning and sparks creativity! Focus on functionality and let your unique teaching style shine through. Embrace the chaos, celebrate the mess, and watch your students thrive in an environment that truly works for them!
My preschool classroom is FINALLY starting to feel like mine again!

I walked in on Day 3 to a classroom that still felt completely chaotic—piles everywhere, books waiting to be shelved, things that needed to go on the walls, and about a hundred little jobs staring at me. And honestly? I needed to get the mess under control so I could get my sense of calm back!

Today I’m taking you through everything I tackled that day as I worked my way from chaos to calm. I got books back on the bookshelves, hung posters, put up my classroom job chart and daily schedule, organized spaces, and started knocking out all those finishing touches that make a preschool classroom feel ready for children.

There’s still more to do, but I’m SO close—and for the first time this week, I can really see it coming together!

Come along with me for another real-life preschool classroom setup day—the mess, the progress, the little victories, and everything in between.

Thanks for spending another classroom setup day with me! 💛
Feeling overwhelmed with lesson planning? Remember, you don't have to tackle it all at once! Break it down into bite-sized tasks and take a deep breath. Focus on 'first things first' and watch your to-do list shrink. Small steps lead to big successes, one lesson at a time!
It’s officially my first day back for Teacher Contract Week, and apparently I decided to start the school year with a little bit of EVERYTHING! 😂

I spent the morning in meetings, met with our new principal in the afternoon, helped some of our new teachers get settled, and then finally made it back to my preschool classroom to tackle one of the areas I’ve been avoiding—my extremely scary and VERY disorganized craft closet.

I also worked on that awkward little area by my classroom sink and finally figured out how to make it useful. And I am ridiculously excited because after YEARS of wanting one, I finally have a dedicated play dough center!

By the end of the day, I was exhausted, the classroom was still a mess, and I left later than anyone else in the building.

And what you DON’T see in this video? After fighting rush-hour traffic and finally making it home...I realized I had to GO BACK TO SCHOOL.

I forgot my computer. 🤦‍♀️😂

Today, I’m heading back in to tackle the mess, work through all those little classroom details, and make a list of everything that still needs to happen before my preschoolers arrive!

And while you’re getting your own classroom ready, don’t forget to visit the Teach Pre-K Dollar Store for affordable preschool and Pre-K math, literacy, fine motor, dramatic play, classroom resources, and more—all for just $1!
