Preschool Summer Camp Activities
Every good summer camp needs a lot of different theme activities. For Bugs & Insects, science takes center stage! As you can see, there are so many things to teach preschoolers about insects, you will never run out of ideas. For that reason, I created a bunch of science printables that teach about different bugs & insects, the lifecycle of the ladybug, and the parts of an insect too. The best thing…you can take all of this new-found knowledge straight to the backyard or the park for some real exploring!
You can find Unit 1:Bugs & Insects in the Teach Pre-K Shop
Practice Fine Motor Skills!
Each Summer Camp unit will include a few fine-motor skill-building activities too. In all honesty, fine-motor practice might be one of the most important skills to focus on this summer. Using scissors and tracing lines, build the hand-eye coordination and hand strength kids need to be successful in kindergarten and beyond. In addition to these great activities, take the scissors outside to chop down weeds and deadhead flowers…get some help with your gardening!
Math Activities
Maintaining those basic math skills will help your child be kindergarten ready and challenged all Summer long! With the loss of classroom time during the shutdown, they could all use a little help! All of the Math activities included in each unit are developmentally appropriate, standards-based, and FUN! If you want to give your kids head start for school in the Fall…I’ve got you covered!
Literacy Activities
In addition to Math activities, Literacy activities are equally as important. As a matter of fact, activities such as letter writing, letter matching, and beginning sounds activities are the foundation to reading. The more they know, the faster they will begin the process of decoding. Then, reading is right around the corner. With this in mind, this Summer program has plenty of developmentally appropriate, standards-based literacy activities too.
BOOM Cards!
Let me start by saying that Boom Cards are the BEST discovery of the shutdown for me. We all know that kids love video games. Therefore, what could be better than teacher-designed games for your computer, laptop, iPad, or phone? These learning games are AMAZING! There will be 5 Boom Cards games included in each unit. Subjects covered will be science, math, & literacy. I have designed each one of the games myself, so I know they are developmentally appropriate. My own classes of 3-5-year-olds have been playing the games over the shutdown, and they have been a HIT! But, you don’t have to take my word for it. There are testimonials in the FREE sample of the Preschool Home Summer Camp. Find out what they are saying!
Preschool Summer Camp Crafts
A Summer camp needs crafts, everyone knows that! Therefore, each unit will have 3 carefully chosen crafts for you and your kids to enjoy! Each craft comes with templates, instructions, and photos of the finished products as a guide. In addition to that, there is a supply list at the beginning of each craft section so you will always be prepared! Have fun!
Extras You Will LOVE
Each theme includes a set of carefully curated extras that will help you be ready for anything! First of all, there is a planning grid included at the beginning of each unit to keep you on track. Additionally, you will find lists of 10 fiction and 10 nonfiction books for story time and diving deep into the themes. Next, a list of indoor and outdoor activities to try when you need something to do. Active links of related YouTube videos and a short list of Netflix and Prime Video programming to make downtime educational. Last, but not least, a private Facebook Group to turn to for support and ideas to get through thee summer!
You’ll even have a veteran Preschool/Pre-K teacher popping in to do live presentations and to answer any questions you might have.
