As teachers, we’re often so focused on taking care of our students that we forget to take care of ourselves. In this video, I’m talking about why prioritizing your mental and physical health is crucial—not just for you, but for everyone around you. I’ll share my own experience of not taking care of myself, which led to getting five other teachers sick and even caused our school to close for a day due to lack of staff. This experience taught me that taking care of yourself truly means taking care of those around you and showing respect for your co-workers and the families who trust you with their children. I’ll also discuss why it’s important to set boundaries with parents about not accepting sick kids into your classroom for the sake of everyone’s health. Remember, if you take care of yourself first, you’re often taking care of others at the same time.
