🦃🍂 The *Cutest Hand Turkey Thanksgiving Cards* Ever! 🍂🦃⁠⁠Our little ones made the sweetest Thanksgiving keepsakes this year—hand turkey cards! Are you struggling with hitting in your preschool classroom or at home? In this video, we’ll explore five effective steps to address this behavior and help children develop better impulse control and self-regulation. 1. Observe: Learn what triggers the hitting. Notice any patterns to time of day, hunger, overstimulation etc. Understand the importance of observing the situation before reacting. 2. Name the Emotion: Discover how to recognize and reflect back the child's feelings. (avoid "I" statements) 3. State Expectations: Understand how to communicate acceptable behavior and your classroom expectations clearly. 4. Preteach & Model: See how modeling and teaching desired behaviors on an ongoing basis can make a difference. 5. Offer Choices & Consequences: Find out how to give children choices while outlining consequences in a calm, constructive manner. As a teacher, parent, or caregiver, it’s essential to remain calm and collected. Remember, children don’t hit to annoy or upset us; it’s a sign of their own struggles. With patience and these foundational steps, you can guide them toward developing impulse control and following instructions. Join me in building a nurturing environment where every child can thrive!
